Thank you guys for the wonderful feedback. It’s really great to hear from you, and to listen to your thoughts on how we can make Onlineindian kick butt! (oops, excuse my language!)

So now it’s my turn to answer a few questions and give you folks little bit of my feedback One of the questions that I get asked repeatedly, is “How do I make friends on Onlineindiansingles?”
Guys especially find this difficult. Girls, you have it easy, some of you just have to put up a nice profile picture and you’re bombarded with hundreds of Friend Requests, right?

So this blog entry is dedicated to the guys - who want to learn the tips and tricks to making new friends
1. The first thing to do when you join the site is talk, talk, talk! Post entries in blogs and add comments to people’s views. Don’t say mean or stupid things - be smart and funny! That really works well with the crowd. And most of all, be original. Don’t post recycled jokes from the net. Say something of your own, it can be personal or about current issues but say something genuine. When people see your posts, they’ll think “wow, that guy is smart - he knows what he’s talking about. I want to be his friend.”

2. Put up your real picture! You know you have 20 times more chance of making new friends if they know that your profile picture is real. Please don’t post a picture of Shahid Kapoor or Shah Rukh Khan as your profile. People know you’re not the real stars, they’ll just think you’re wannabes! I want to talk to you - so show us your face! On Onlineindiansingles, we love folks who are confident enough to be themselves!

3. Browse profiles - and if you like a profile, send a ping or a message that is funny, smart or at least relevant. Please, please, please don’t send a ping or message saying stuff like:
Wanna make friendship?
Hai dear, lets b friends
I am lonely guy in delhi, looking for friends like u
howz u
Hi, my name is “abc”. Chat with me on yahoo messenger
Hi dear. Want to talk. call me on my mobile.

You get the idea right? People don’t want to see such messages. Say something funny or cool that is relevant to them. If you read their profile and find you have something in common with the person, either you share same college or workplace, then you can comment on it
eg. “Oh wow, you work in Infosys too? I really learnt a lot there - they have a great work ethic.”
OR “Hey i studied in Pune, Symbiosis. I really loved Pune, nice young crowd. Are you studying there too? I can give you some tips!”

If you send messages like that you’ll get a 500% better response, I guarantee it!

a) You’ll stand out, because you’re different from the usual boring pings that ask for friendship.
b) The person has a conversation point with you, and a reason to start talkin to you.

4. Don’t be a troll! A troll is someone who just enters a site to cause trouble: either they keep screaming nonsense on other people’s blogs and profiles, or post porno and offensive content on their profile to shock people and get attention. That’s not cool. We’ll just think you’re really despo and immature, so please just try and be cool instead of being a troll, okay?
